Professional background

Aaron is a Registered Psychologist/Clinical Psychology Registrar at South Coast Private Hospital, where he provides evidence-based psychological care through individual therapy and outpatient group programs.

Aaron has worked across community and Non-Government Organisation (NGO) services, private practice, and hospital settings, supporting adolescents and adults with mood and anxiety disorders, trauma-related difficulties, emotional dysregulation, and adjustment issues. His work includes individual therapy and the facilitation of structured outpatient groups informed by cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) informed approaches.

In addition to skills-based therapies, Aaron has a strong interest in psychodynamic and relational models of psychotherapy and is currently undertaking training in Transference-Focused Psychotherapy (TFP). This orientation informs his capacity to work with complex presentations, including longstanding relational difficulties and personality-related vulnerabilities. Aaron is particularly interested in understanding recurring interpersonal patterns, emotional experience, and the ways these dynamics shape distress over time.

Aaron approaches trauma from a trauma-informed and formulation-driven perspective, drawing on both evidence-based interventions and psychodynamic understanding. His work attends to emotional experience, meaning, attachment, and relational context, with an emphasis on pacing, safety and emotional regulation rather than reliance on any single technique or protocol.

Aaron works collaboratively with clients to support distress management and deeper psychological insight, with the aim of fostering sustainable psychological change.

Outside of clinical work, Aaron enjoys cooking and sharing food, strength training, spending time with family, and being outdoors. He has a particular fondness for birds and wildlife and values time in nature as an important source of grounding and perspective.
