Professional background
Hi there, my name is Sim. I am a clinical psychologist who is passionate about creating a safe, supportive and non-judgemental space where people can come to learn about themselves, build meaningful skills, and move toward living a life that feels aligned, fulfilling and sustainable. I believe therapy is not just about reducing distress, but about helping people understand their inner world and develop the tools they need to truly thrive.
I have a strong passion for working with people who have experienced trauma, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and complex PTSD. My work focuses on supporting clients to gently explore their experiences, deepen self-understanding and find new ways to heal, grow and reconnect with themselves and others. I specialise in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and integrate a range of evidence-based approaches including Internal Family Systems (IFS), Schema Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Mindfulness integrated CBT (MI-CBT), tailoring therapy to each individual’s needs and goals.
I am deeply committed to creating a culturally safe and inclusive space for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, neurodiverse individuals and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. I warmly welcome people of all backgrounds, identities and body sizes, and strive to offer therapy that is affirming, respectful and grounded in compassion.
I treat a range of mental health presentations, including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, PTSD, complex PTSD and adjustment difficulties. I work in a neuroaffirming way with clients with ADHD and Autism, supporting individuals to better understand their neurotype, strengths, challenges and needs within a world that is not always designed with neurodiversity in mind.
Collaboration is an important part of my practice, and I am always happy to work as part of a broader care team alongside GPs, psychiatrists and other health professionals to support holistic and coordinated care.
Outside of the therapy room, I value the outdoors and have a strong appreciation for the importance of connection to nature in supporting wellbeing. I believe that healing and growth are deeply relational — not only with ourselves and others, but also with the environments we move through.
I am also involved in research and have published a paper titled Camouflaging, Internalising Symptoms and Externalising Symptoms in Children and Adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder, reflecting my ongoing interest in neurodevelopmental conditions and evidence-based practice.
