Dr Ben Allard

Dr Ben Allard is a consultant psychiatrist at South Coast Private Hospital. Prior to completing his medical degree at Sydney University, he completed an Arts degree at the University of NSW in political science, psychology and theatre and film. He continues to dabble in music, drama, and the arts, finding that he has learnt as much about the human condition in these fields as he has in psychiatry.

Since University Dr Ben Allard has worked in both the public and private health systems in both Sydney and Wollongong. He has taught medical students at St Vincent’s hospital and was an associate lecturer at UNSW. Dr Ben Allard has completed additional studies in psychotherapy, completing the advanced training in psychotherapies with Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists.
As well as being a general adult psychiatrist, with experience in treating mood, anxiety, ADHD and trauma related conditions, Dr Ben Allard has a special interest in Integrative therapeutic approaches including evidence based nutritional, meditative and lifestyle interventions He has a recovery-based practice that encourages patients making informed choices for themselves. In his spare time, he enjoys playing music with friends, and spending time outdoors, and with animals.
