This 12-session program is based on the principles of Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (or ACT) and is designed to teach you proven strategies for accepting difficult thoughts & emotions while still committing to action. It teaches participants how to use mindfulness to tolerate painful thoughts and feelings to they have less of an impact, allowing the participant to clarify what is truly important and meaningful in life.
Throughout this program you will participate in group sessions. The group will be led by qualified allied health professionals who will support group participants to share lived experiences, and to learn practical skills and evidence-based strategies for managing thoughts and emotions. Each session focuses on exploring a practical skill you can use to begin changing the vicious cycle of chronic stress.
Understand what psychological flexibility is and how the 6 core ACT processes can improve your connection with leading a more meaningful life.
Learn a variety of defusion strategies to improve your relationship with negative thoughts.
Identify avoidance and learn how to be more accepting and self-compassionate.
Use mindfulness to be more connected with the present moment and what/who is really important to you.
Identify meaningful values and how to use this understand to live an authentic life.
For you to access this treatment, we will need a valid referral from a medical practitioner and to complete a preadmission assessment with you to ensure that the treatment is suitable for you.
