About PTSD Phase 1 Inpatient Program

This foundational three-week group therapy program provides psychoeducation on PTSD to allow patients to develop insight into the nature of PTSD as well as implement skills to effectively manage their PTSD symptoms. This program may also provide a steppingstone to more intensive trauma processing intervention.

 

This program may be suitable for you if:

What you will experience

Throughout this program you will participate in group sessions. The group will be led by a qualified psychologist who will support group participants to share the lived experience of life with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and to learn evidence-based strategies for managing symptoms of PTSD. In addition, group members will also develop insight into the nature of PTSD and aetiology of the disorder.

Treatment objectives

Objective 1

Mindfulness - Learn how to pay attention to yourself and your environment to identify early warning signs of distress.

Objective 2

Distress Tolerance - Learn about the cycle of distress and ways you can prevent regrettable actions.

Objective 3

Emotion Regulation - Learn about the function of emotions and skills for navigating them successfully.

Objective 4

Interpersonal Effectiveness - Learn skills for improving your relationships and assertiveness to reduce conflict.

How to get started

Patients interested in attending this program will need a referral to a Psychiatrist with admission rights to South Coast Private Hospital. Referrals can be sent through to sco.intake@aurorahealth.com.au. General enquiries about this treatment can be made by calling 1800 250 000.

How much does it cost?

South Coast Private has contract arrangements and approved programs with majority of private health funds, however, there may be some out of pocket expenses based on your level of cover. Patients that do not have private health insurance need to contact us to obtain cost estimate for day programs attendance

Who will find this program helpful?

Individuals who have intense, unstable moods, relationship difficulties, and self-harming behaviours. It is suitable for patients diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder, Complex PTSD and severe Mood or Anxiety Disorders.
