About Successful Sleep Day Program

This 6-session half day program is based on the principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (or CBT-i) and is designed to teach you proven strategies to assist with sleep difficulties. This may include difficulty getting to sleep, staying asleep, early wakening, nightmares or daytime fatigue. 
 

This program may be suitable for you if:

  • You've experienced difficulties falling or staying asleep.
  • If you are worrying or rumination during the night.
  • If you experience reoccurring nightmares that are disrupting your sleep cycle.
  • If the quality or quantity of your sleep is affecting your day to day functioning.

What you will experience

Throughout this program you will participate in group sessions. The group will be led by qualified allied health professionals who will support group participants to share lived experiences, and to learn practical skills and evidence-based strategies for managing and reducing stress levels.

Treatment objectives

Objective 1

Sleep Education: Understand what is sleep, what drives sleep and the difference between kinds of sleep disorders.

Objective 2

Sleep Preparation: How to prepare for sleep, wind down prior to sleep and use medication effectively.

Objective 3

Staying Asleep: Understand reasons for night awakenings and how to cope with waking in the night.

Objective 4

Worrying about Sleep: What do to if your wired and tired.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost?

South Coast Private has contract arrangements and approved programs with majority of private health funds, however, there may be some out of pocket expenses based on your level of cover. Patients that do not have private health insurance need to contact us to obtain cost estimate for day programs attendance

Who will find this program helpful?

Individuals who experience sleep difficulties at least three nights per week for the past few months, and have a diagnosis of a mood disorder, anxiety disorder or a trauma-based disorder.
