About Trauma Processing Day Program

This is a 12-session day program designed to provide a safe treatment setting for participants to process the impacts of their trauma. Sessions utilise Cognitive Processing Therapy to evaluate the effect of the trauma on belief systems and create change by challenging negative thoughts and unhelpful behaviours.
 

This program may be suitable for you if:

  • You are interested in learning how to modify behaviours to align with newfound perspectives about trauma.
  • You have appropriately fostered coping skills to allow you to tolerate unpacking beliefs related to trauma.
  • You are an individual who has been impacted by adult trauma and are ready to process the effects of this
  • You are interested in understanding the impacts of trauma on the way you think about the self, the world and other people.
  • You are motivated to process unhelpful trauma-related beliefs and balance perspectives related to this.

What you will experience

Throughout this program you will participate in group sessions. The group will be led by a qualified allied health professional who will support group participants to share how trauma has impacted upon their belief system and provide new insights into how trauma can influence the perceptions we form. With new understanding participants will challenge unhelpful thoughts and modify their behaviour.

Learn ways to modify future behaviour in accordance with new beliefs to improve quality of life.

Patients interested in attending this program will need a referral from a Psychiatrist with admission rights to South Coast Private Hospital. Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost?

South Coast Private has contract arrangements and approved programs with majority of private health funds, however, there may be some out of pocket expenses based on your level of cover. Patients that do not have private health insurance need to contact us to obtain cost estimate for day programs attendance.

Who will find this program helpful?

People who have experienced trauma in adulthood who may have been diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Adjustment Disorder or Mood and Anxiety Disorders.
