About Trauma Skills Day Program

This is an 8-session day program designed to provide a safe treatment setting for participants who have been affected by past experiences of trauma. Group sessions focus on teaching and implementing skills and techniques to help participants manage the symptoms of trauma and understand its impact on oneself in preparation for further intensive trauma work.
 

This program may be suitable for you if:

  • You are interested in learning practical skills to manage experiences of dissociation following trauma.
  • You are interested in learning more about trauma-related disorders.
  • You are interested in learning practical skills to regulate experiences of distress following trauma.
  • You are interested in targeting low mood and motivation following trauma.
  • You are interested in identifying unhelpful beliefs resulting from trauma.

What you will experience

Group sessions will be facilitated by a qualified allied health professional. Over the course of an eight-week period, participants will learn and practice implements practical skills to manage trauma-related symptoms in an effort to improve stability in your life and acquire tools necessary for later stage trauma processing therapy.

Become more skilful in managing distress and reducing baseline arousal.

Shift unhelpful behaviours which maintain symptoms of anxiety and depression.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost?

South Coast Private has contract arrangements and approved programs with majority of private health funds, however, there may be some out of pocket expenses based on your level of cover. Patients that do not have private health insurance need to contact us to obtain cost estimate for day programs attendance.

Who will find this program helpful?

People who have experienced trauma and have consequently received a diagnosis of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Complex-PTSD or Adjustment Disorder.
